LENS
INFORMATION
All
our lenses are made to exact to prescription (exactly
as your spectacles) This ensures maximum optical correction
and comfort. All aspects of the prescription are covered
including all correction for astigmatism. Please note
that the ready made lenses supplied from the diving
store are nearest GUESS only and do not offer the correction or comfort
of our lenses.
All
our lenses are bonded to the existing faceplates using
state of the art UV curing adhesives and as such the
whole lens assembly can effectively be treated as one
homogenous item.
It
should be noted that our lenses DO NOT cover the whole
of the faceplate and the amount of cover will depend
on the prescription. Full coverage is not necessary
for good vision and in high prescriptions, which result
in thick lenses, full coverage lenses will not fit in
modern low volume masks without contact with the face
MINUS AND PLUS LENSES
We
are able to produce in both plus and minus form.
Minus lenses
very rarely produce any distortion problems. Plus lenses,
< because they have to be fitted to the inside of
the mask and hence curve toward the eye, can produce
some distortion. This takes the effect of good central
vision but increasing peripheral distortion. The
effects of this are fairly nominal up to around a power
+4.00. Above this the effects do increase and can give
the effect of tunnel vision. Most divers who have this
effect explained to them accept and accommodate the
distortion. Unfortunately there is no alternative when
producing plus lenses. Most divers accept that this
solution is much better than having no correction.
ORDERING
Decide on the style of lens you require,
Normally influenced by the style of spectacle lens you
use everyday.
To help your lenses work as effectively
as possible we need a small amount of fitting information.
Go to a mirror and whilst wearing your
diving mask look straight into the mirror with your
head level and mark on the faceplate with a marker pen
the centre of your pupils.
If you require bifocals we need a line
putting on the faceplate which coincides with the bottom
eyelids.
That's it, these markings will ensure
you get maximum vision and comfort whilst diving
